Tibetan Agate

Healing, Cleansing, Strength, Power and Courage. Tibetan Agate is an all-round healing gemstone. It is known for healing the mind body, spirit, and healing and organizing surrounding environments. It has a stabilizing effect on the body, cleansing at the physical and emotional level. This agate in particular produces strength, power and courage, enhances truthfulness and brings forth understanding. Tibetan Agates are also known as Tibetan Dzi agates. Dzi (pronounced as zeeee…) originated from Tibet and the Himalayan mountains. In Tibetan this word can simply be translated to bring good meanings of “splendor, brightness and shine”. It comes in different shapes and sizes and is dark colored agate bead etched with a number of eyes, heavenly patterns and auspicious symbols. The dZi is originated from Tibet and is endorsed by all to possess protective, enhancing, curative and healing powers. It often brings fantastic good fortune, prosperity, wealth and good health to the owner as well. Wearing the powerful dzi is believed to dissipate such negativities depending on their patterns and usage.

The Hamsa Hand

The Hamsa Hand (Arabic) or hamesh hand (Hebrew) is an old and still popular apotropaic amulet for magical protection from the envious or evil eye. The words hamsa and hamesh mean "five" and refer to the digits on the hand. An alternative Islamic name for this charm is the Hand of Fatima, in reference to the daughter of Mohammed. An alternative Jewish name for it is the Hand of Miriam, in reference to the sister of Moses and Aaron.

Although most hamsa hands are amulets, modern Israeli hamesh hands are sometimes made in the form of ceramic wall plaques in which a hand-lettered Hebrew prayer occupies the center of the palm. These include variants that seek to prevent earthquakes as well as forestall overlooking by the evil eye. Hamsa hand plaques, usually made of turquoise-glazed pottery, are also found in modern Egypt. They resemble other anti-evil-eye plaques from Egypt, with a blue horseshoe for luck and blue beads for magical protection from the evil eye.

Because the hamsa or hamesh hand protects against the evil eye, the design in some examples merges into another design called the eye-in-hand motif. In those instances, a realistic or stylized eye appears in the center of the palm of the hand.
